I Used To Be Cool
I’ve been living with a secret, my inter-web friends. I’ve kept this quiet as long as possible, but it’s time to come out. To confess.
Someone once said the truth will set you free, right? (It was Jim Carrey, I think… Wait, no. That’s not it… oh yes, I believe it was actually God.)
If you know me IRL, you probably know my secret already, but it’s time I come to terms with it and talk about it out in the open.
This month marks the 1 year anniversary of the day I joined the Swaggin’ Wagon Club.
Yes… it’s true.
I own a minivan.
Meet Mama V.
She’s a beaut, isn’t she?
A part of me died driving away from the car lot that fateful April day last year.
(A large part.)
Because I would never drive a minivan.
(Said every minivan driver ever.)
But I’ve been secretly holding the truth deep down in my soul. A new part of me was born to replace that which passed away.
It’s the part of me that understands non-automated car doors are spawn of the devil.
I love my van. And I won’t trade her in for anything. Except the 2016 model. (I would definitely upgrade for her younger & prettier sister.)
I promise I used to be cool.
(Sort of).
But I’m less worried about that these days. Because I don’t have to fight car doors anymore. Ever. Never ever.
But want to know what is cool about Mama V?
She makes me fit RIGHT IN at the car line.
Happy Birthday Month, Mama V!!
You sound a lot like me when I bought my last (still new to me after a year) car – a Hyundai Elantra WAGON. I thought it looked like such an “old” car at first, but then I got in and tested it and decided I loved it…… and so I was the childless, mid-20s gal, with a new job driving off the car lot in a station wagon.
Lauren – that’s awesome! Embrace it! Hahaha! Thanks for reading!
