3 Simple Steps to Improve Your Spiritual Health
Blood rushed to my face. I could feel the hot rush of it running in and out of my face, then pulsing quickly through my chest. The room walls seemed to close in and all I wanted to do was lay down on my bed, lock my door, shut of my phone and pretend the world wasn’t spinning all around me.
Confession. Nothing earth shattering happened.
It was just my daily life.
Work was frantically texting, while two kids screamed at each other about stealing toys, and the other screamed at me about needing help finding their shoes. The school bus was close, and we were most likely going to barely make it in time to bound up the steps. I had a meeting coming up I was anxious about and no idea what I was going to feed my family for dinner that night due to my dwindling
I was tired. I was overwhelmed. I was becoming angry and agitated.
Have you been there? Been at a spot where you just wanted to quit? Or to scream? Maybe even wondered if your efforts in the mundane daily grind was worth it?
Life can suck us dry, can’t it? Maybe your daily grind doesn’t ever look like what I described above, but I know you’ve got your own things going on stealing from your peace and peace of mind.
However, God promises a life of abundance.
It took me a while, but I finally learned what to do to live in this place of abundance. It all came down to not my physical life, but my spiritual one.
A healthy spiritual life — belief in and relationship with God — is the only thing that can give us this life of abundance, here on this sin-filled side of heaven.
So I set out to fix my worn-outness, bitterness, and my overall health and ability to live well. And I found three things that would fix it.
Only three.
I’m calling them my prescriptions.
And I think you should have them too.
There’s a progression to spiritual health on this side of eternity. Because of sin, we will never be fully whole and complete until we’re kickin’ it with the angels and saints at the feet of Jesus up in Heaven.
But we can follow certain steps for a more healthy spiritual life.
Whether spiritually sick or not, these prescriptions – when taken – will radically change the trajectory of your spiritual life, relationship with Jesus, and ultimately relationships with yourself and others… in a positive and healthy direction.
So I wrote up a short guide – steps that I followed myself – offering these 3 very practical and simple prescriptions for the mom who may be run-down, weary, or overwhelmed, but wants to live, and live well.
