On This Book Birthday: Why I Wrote More for Mom: Living Your Whole & Holy Life
If you’ve been with me here on the inter webs for a while, you know that several years ago, I got the idea to write a book. God pressed an incredible story on me to document on paper. It’s an amazing true story, one that is deserving to be shared.
So I wrote it.
However, that book is not the one born today. That book is still sitting in a word document in my computer waiting for its turn to land out in the world.
But today, my another book hits bookstores. It’s a book birthday!
More for Mom: Living Your Whole & Holy Life is out in the big, bad world. And as any good parent should be, I’m equal parts ecstatic and petrified.
While that other book is still sitting on my computer, it is what spurred me on to realize, I could actually write a book. And maybe not simply share a story, but share truth. Truth that may help to release someone who needs some freedom to live their life how God designed them to.
That’s how the idea for More for Mom: Living Your Whole & Holy Life was born.
When I first pitched More for Mom‘s book proposal to agents and publishers, it was originally titled “Embrace the Crazy.” I thought I wanted to share how to find peace in the chaos.
You know, because I’m a total expert on peace in the chaos. *sarcastic side eye*
But upon diving deeper into this project, I realized that “the crazy” of our mom lives is exactly how our lives are intended to be on this side of Heaven. While yes, we could experience peace in our chaotic lives, I realized more so that when I was trying to gain this peace for myself, I was doing it in fragmented portions of my life. I’d focus on the different areas of my life.
But that isn’t how it is supposed to work.
The daily grind, the screaming kids, the relentless demands of work aren’t supposed to be separated from one another or compartmentalized – all wrapped up together, they complete this life Christ has called us to. They are whole in Christ, and as believers, even holy, in the way we live it out.
So yes – I feel like as a whole, we should embrace our crazy, but it’s only because Jesus has MORE in mind for us – to be whole and holy.
I’m ready for all the moms of our generation to live from a place of abundance where we can do more than just give; we can give in a celebratory way because we’ve already received more than would ever be enough.
This perspective will shape what our daily grind looks and feels like because we’ll finally recognize what it means to be whole and holy.
