Social Distancing Survival Kit
We are several weeks into social distancing now …. and at this point it’s a survival game (no pun or crude Coronavirus joke intended).
I mean mental survival. We are in lock-down, can’t go anywhere, and for most of us, our kids are home and out of school.
So here are four of my favorite social distancing “survival” resources — or just plain fun — for you and the kids.
*I’ll update this post as I come across other options that I think are worth recommending. So bookmark this page and check back often.
Heads up: several (not all) of the links below are affiliate links, meaning if you sign up using my link, I will receive a small financial kick-back to help support my small business. I only share programs and services I use and love myself. Using these links is a small way to support my business … so thank you for your support! You can read my privacy policy here.
01. Online classes
Many of us have extra time and are wanting to learn something new. Cooking? Gardening? Embroidery? Whatever you want, Bluprint has streaming classes and exclusive content to subscribers ….
But from now until April 9 — it’s totally FREE! Go check it out ASAP!
02. Teach Your Monster to Read
This one is for the kiddos just learning to read. From the Usborne Foundation (think Usborne books!), this game is SUPER CUTE and addicting … in a great way! Rockie May has been putting sounds and letter together to make small words at four years old. The app is at it’s lowest price ever (usually $5!), but the computer version is free!
03. Science & art projects, delivered
I rave about Kiwi Crates all the time. Because they are worth the rave. These show up, my kids have a blast AND learn how to not just follow directions, but think creatively and innovatively.
For ages 0 – 104. Yep… that’s everybody.

04. Reading
This can sometimes be hard to do with kids around, but if you’ve got them working on a Kiwi Crate or teach monsters to read, you can read yourself. There is always time to read. Audiobooks are always a fantastic option too.
I have several lists of my recommendations over on Amazon.
It is an 11 page PDF with that includes:
- Page To Draw Family Picture
- All About Me
- How I’m Feeling
- My Community
- What I Am Doing At Home
- Handprint Page
- Special Occasion Page
- Letter To Myself Sheet
- Interview For The Parents
- Letter From The Parent
05. COVID Time Capsule
What a fun idea for the kiddos. They are living through history right now, and I thought this was a cool way to commemorate that.
Natalie Long of LONG Creations, came up with a clever and creative way for children to express what they are thinking and feeling during this challenging time through her Covid-19 Time Capsule printable.
