We’re going to rock at 2019

Welcome to my annual New Year’s Intentions post. Every year, I take inventory of the previous 12 months and posting my intentions for the new year on the first day of the year.

I am so stoked for 2019. It’s going to be a great year, and I’m highly expectant. I’ve taken stock and made my intentions. What about you?

This started because I have never been a fan of the term “resolutions.” So I don’t usually do resolutions.  Because, well, I’m not resolute about much. However, I would be mistaken to say I don’t ever think about things I intend to do the following year.

I’m an Enneagram 3. Duh.

So instead, I post my “intentions.” This gives me mental freedom with them, so if they get done – great! But if not, no biggie. Because LIFE, yo.

I do feel it’s important to look back in order to know where you came from in order to know where you’re going, to know what was important the following year and what is important now.

So before starting this post, I looked back at last year’s to copy and paste reflect. 😉 *wink*

If you are interested in filling out your own inventory, and working on your own goals for the 2019, I’ve created a worksheet for you.

My 2018 Inventory:

  • In 2018, I gained so many new friends within my industry.
  • I lost a few chickens to the bad-guys (aka – wild animals) in my neighborhood.
  • I started growing out my natural gray hair.
  • I stopped taking my medication.
  • I was hugely satisfied by rearranging my work schedule and hours to better meet the needs of this season in my life.
  • And frustrated by my lack of time to read for pleasure.
  • I am so embarrassed I can’t say NO to baby animals. (See our backyard full of chickens for reference.)
  • Once again, I was frustrated by broken promises.
  • Once again, I tried to give grace but often failed.
  • The biggest physical difference between me last December and this December is the color of my hair.
  • The biggest psychological difference between me last December and this December is my more balanced hormones. (Sort of. Ha!)
  • I loved watching my girls grow.
  • Why did I spend even two minutes getting frustrated by the size of the laundry pile.
  • I should have been a better friend.
  • I regret not paying as much attention friends and family as I should.
  • I will never regret visiting my 94 grandmother just after Christmas.
  • I spent way too much time scrolling online sales.
  • The most relaxing place I went was The Country Place in Moscow, TN. I was by myself. On the whole property. It was glorious. #IntrovertsParadise
  • I did not workout as much as I wanted or should have.
  • The best thing I did for myself was pursue educating myself more via online courses, consulting, etc.
  • The best thing someone did for me was come play with and love on my kids so I could get writing and work done.
  • The one thing I’d like to do again, but do it better is write another book!

(Fill-in-the-blank template from Mary Schmich at The Chicago Tribune).

2019 Intentions:

  • Launch a book into the world!
  • Book 10 speaking events.
  • Read 35+ books.
  • Keep a steady weekly writing and work schedule. (I’m sick of working when and where I can.)
  • Honor one full, true Sabbath day a week. (Why is this one so hard?!? Jesus, help me.)

Happy New Year, friend!

Wishing 2019 to be your best year yet!
