#WorkingMomProbs

You can find me in this spot most of today. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I love to spend time with my kids and family. But I also love to work. I don’t do well when I don’t have outside-of-the-home projects and stuff going on. Call me crazy, but I just don’t.

Being a working mom is a blessing.

However, some days I have to remind myself of that. Because it’s hard and emotional and stressful. We could talk all day about our #workingmomproblems – the scheduling, the emotions, the childcare, the time. But the bottom line is, despite these problems and whether I’m in an office 9 to 5 or working on the floor of my bedroom surrounded by distractions, I’m blessed.

Because of my faith, I know God has saved me and created me to do good work … Even when I’m stressed.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Are you there too? Trying to walk run stumble through in this crazy calling of working mom-hood God has prepped for you?

It’s all about perspective.

I need a perspective of blessed instead of stressed.

With a stressed perspective, we’re frantic and worrisome and focused on ourselves. This isn’t cool with God.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34)

With a blessed perspective, we give more. This is totally cool with God.

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38)

So let’s do what we have to do to give and have an attitude of blessed. If that means setting up little play stations around computers so we can work and spend time with babies, then so be it. If that means hiring help to attend a work conference, then so be it.

We’re going to be blessed when we give time, knowledge and resources to work… because (and I truly believe this) it will be given right back to us and our families. (Luke 6:38) It is to our Father’s glory that we bear much fruit.

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” (John 15:8)

God has created us to do good work. But we can’t do that until we switch perspectives from stressed to blessed.

When the pressure of working motherhood is mounting, I am teaching myself to stop and pray. So here is my best advice on how to de-stress any moment of work and mom life – stop, breathe and then breathe out a prayer.

Easy verses to pray when stressed & working:

(Tip! Memorize these verses!)

(*verses modified to fit personal prayer*)

Romans 8:6 Don’t allow me to set my mind on the flesh, which is death, but set my mind on the Spirit, which is life and peace.

Romans 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under my feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with me.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever I do, in word or deed, let me do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Philippians 4:6,7 Lord, help me to not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let my requests be made known to You. Let the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:6,7 Humble me, Lord, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time You may exalt me, casting all my anxieties on You, because You care for me.

Colossians 3:23-24 Help me work willingly at whatever I do, as though I were working for the Lord rather than for people. The Lord will give me an inheritance as my reward, and that the Master I am serving is Christ.

Psalms 37:5 I commit my ways to You, LORD; I trust in You, and know You will act.

Psalms 55:22 I cast my burden on the LORD, so He will sustain me; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
