My heart tells me lots of things.
It tells me I need the latest and greatest iPhone, or a new car (that isn’t a minivan), or a warm and cute pair of boots for the upcoming winter. It recently told me I needed a new, fluffy-faced puppy (so I got the puppy, of course.)
Sometimes I ache for something I cannot see. I usually can’t put my finger on it, but I have this restlessness, this longing for something that I just know is missing.
This is when I should be paying attention to the hole that is inside me, not just what I may be able to fill the hole with.
God reminds me of what He revealed to David in the Psalms.
“My heart says this about you: ‘Seek his face.’ LORD, I will seek your face.” (Psalm 27:8)
Different translations of Psalm 27:8 translate the word “face” as “presence.”
Only when we are in someone’s presence, can we truly see them — all of them. Their tendencies, their physical attributes, their hurts, and their joys.
When we seek and get into God’s presence, we get to experience and find the fullness of His joy. That, my friend, is something I can trust my heart needs to seek out. What about yours?
Much love,
Kristin & the She Found Joy team.
