Need a Book Suggestion? (Pst! I’m Giving it Away for FREE!)

I’ll be honest, upon receiving Breaking Busy in the mail I was a little skeptical. I viewed it as “just another book” on how to live life to our fullest. You know, another “fix-it” book.

However, by page five Alli Worthington had my full attention. Her conversational style of writing made me feel like I was sitting talking to a friend over a cup of coffee and laughing and joking about the craziness that our lives had become.

I found my head nodding in agreement throughout the first half of the book. And by the chapter titled “Editing,” Alli had me tearing up.

I write (and therefore think) about God and life and kids a lot, so I wasn’t expecting to be so drawn in with her ideas on breaking the busyness in our lives. She is very real and shows how finding peace and purpose is not only attainable, but almost easily attainable.

One of my favorite aspects of this book are her lists. She lists out practical tips, things to watch out for, and questions for self-reflection. This is helpful to go back and reference later.

(Oh yeah, and she’s hysterical. Another favorite part. 😉 )

I think you should go check it out, whether you are living in a world of crazy busy right now or not. Even if you are in a slow and peaceful season of life, Alli’s ideas and application can be enlightening and help you to recognize possible future “busy.”

It sure did for me.

Friends, this book is rocks. And I have an extra copy to GIVE AWAY!

  • Oohh! I love a good read! I have read similar books called "Rest Assured" and "The Fringe Hours". This is obviously an epidemic among women today. I am ready to break my busy!

    • I think it absolutely IS an epidemic these days! Good luck, Michelle! And thanks for entering! :-) PS - The Fringe Hours was good! I haven't read the other one.

  • It is so hard to break busy. I need an intervention! What I do or don't do does not define who I am. Just reminding myself of that little tidbit there!!

  • I'm a widowed mom of four who is trying to juggle all their schedules and my part-time job and figure out if I can add a job to make ends meet. But I don't want to over-commit since I'm already stressed. I think this book could offer some solid wisdom. :-)

  • I've been wanting to read this! Last year I hit a huge spiritual walk by doing too much of what the Lord didn't want me too. They weren't bad things. It was good ministry. But I needed to step away & just rest. Every time I talk to a friend, no matter her age, marital status, number of kids, stays home or works outside the home...EVERYONE IS BUSY!!! It's a sad epidemic! I would love to win this!

  • Oh Kristin. Just the title gets me. I go through seasons of busy til I can't take it then I "break" it. And back I go again. I need this book! I think all of us do. I'm so excited to see you'll be at She Speaks again this year!! I look forward to catching up!

  • You had me at "easily attainable". I find the suggestions I get to declutter or unbusy my life adds a bunch of to dos to my list. I don't want to wear "busy" as a merit badge anymore. I think this book would help!

  • Your timing is perfect! I'm trying to figure out why other people seem to get so much more done than I do when I don't even stop to have lunch. I need to be less busy and more efficient and I need ideas to help me do that. So thank you for offering this book to us. My kids thank you. My husband thanks you. And now... back to work!

  • Been dying to read this! Glad to hear it was so good! Also, I hope to see you back at She Speaks! <3
